So I'm heading to the Bottom Lounge on Friday to see some friends play. It seems Pelican is headlining. It further seems that I'm going to completely enjoy this show. Instrumental metal gets the thumbs up on one hand and the a-ok sign on the other.

Why have I never been turned onto early Afghan Whigs before? People who discounted them cuz all they heard was Gentleman (like me), should give Big Top Halloween a listen. It's quite good and punk enough to make you want to go get another pair of Chuck Taylors.
Right now I'm listening to Congregation which I don't like nearly as much. It sounds like a Tom Petty record. But without the hooks. Especially the hook from the bridge from the song "Learning to Fly."
That's my favorite bridge of all time.
